Goalless draw secures passage to the Spanish national team.
The under=19 women’s national team failed to qualify for this year’s European Championship in that category, which takes place in Bosnia=Herzegovina between June 27 and July 10.
At the City of Football = in a match counting towards the final round of qualifying = Portugal drew 0-0 with Spain, the four=time European champions who secured a place to defend their title.
Portugal, it should be remembered, won its first two games: Northern Ireland (1-0) and Hungary (3-0). They entered the final matchday with the same points as Spain. However, given the goal difference, the Spanish team had an advantage in the league standings.
The score remained 0-0 until the end, confirming Portugal’s absence from the Under=19 European Championship. Nevertheless, the Portuguese team finished the qualifying campaign undefeated and without conceding a goal.
