Tchouameni: Prestianni? The next step is to leave the field

French midfielder says it would have been crazy if Real Madrid had left the game at the Estadio da Luz.

Tchouameni gave an interview to the Pivot Podcast, even though he wasn’t in Munich, where Real Madrid was eliminated from the Champions League, because he was serving a suspension. He took the opportunity to talk about one of the issues that will mark this Champions League: the accusations of racism that Vinicius made against Prestianni.

They called him a monkey. I feel the next step will be to leave the field. We will not allow these scenes to be repeated,” announced the French midfielder.

“When you’re on the pitch and you experience something like that, it’s very difficult to process and realize what’s happening. But in the Champions League, on the biggest stage in football, if we had left the pitch it would have been crazy.”

In this interview, Tchouameni also spoke about his arrival at Real Madrid. The first few months weren’t easy, he admits, but the French midfielder eventually managed to turn things around.

I was made a scapegoat. For the first 10 to 20 minutes, the stadium booed every time I touched the ball. That situation either destroys you, or makes you think ‘that’s just how things are,’ let’s see what I can control, and the only thing I can control is my performance, he recalled.

The level of pressure at Real Madrid is something else entirely. People will talk about everything you do, whether it’s good or bad.
