Atletico Mineiro has announced that it has reached an agreement with Hulk to terminate the contract that linked the forward to the Belo Horizonte club.
The 39-year-old forward, who is set to join Fluminense, will have a farewell match on May 10th at Arena MRV (Atletico Mineiro’s stadium) before the game against Botafogo for the Brazilian Championship.
Hulk returned to Brazil in 2021 after more than a decade and a half away from his native country = with stints at clubs in Japan, FC Porto (from 2008 to 2012), Russia (Zenit) and China, where he represented Shanghai SIPG.
While playing for Atlético Mineiro, he won a Brazilian Championship and a Brazilian Cup (in 2021), a Super Cup (2022), and five consecutive state championships from 2021 to 2025. He scored 140 goals and provided 56 assists in 311 games.
I take with me much more than titles; I take a connection that changed my life. Galo and the Atletico Mineiro fans made me feel at home from day one, and I will be eternally grateful to this club that I learned to love. I hope to see you all at the Arena so we can say goodbye together, in the way this beautiful story deserves: with emotion, gratitude, and a great celebration, said Hulk, quoted by Atlético Mineiro. My relationship with Atletico Mineiro is very intense and I will never lose that connection with this wonderful fanbase. So much so that my children will remain here in Belo Horizonte and I insisted on keeping my box, added the former FC Porto player.
