Dragons’ roller hockey coach, Paulo Freitas, highlights the quality and belief of the European champion team.

FC Porto’s roller hockey team coach, Paulo Freitas, stated that the “strong start” in the game against Barcelona “was part of the plan” to win the Champions League. The Dragons lifted the trophy this Sunday with a 3-1 victory in Coimbra.

“Starting strong was part of the game plan. We knew there was a lot of quality on the other side and we knew there was the same desire and ambition to win the trophy. We had to start strong and be very rigorous defensively. I think it was an absolutely fantastic first half for FC Porto and a more even second half, with a lot of quality on the other side, where we had the capacity for suffering and humility, which was part of the process of winning this title that we wanted so much, said Paulo Freitas, in statements to journalists.

“This victory represents a great moment of satisfaction and we have to celebrate a lot today, because we worked very hard for this to happen, but on Tuesday we’ll be back to work. The team has a lot of quality and always believed. We ended up achieving our goal, which was to win the trophy, which we put in the FC Porto museum, and that’s what will go down in history,” he highlighted.
