Second League: Torreense defeats Lourosa, celebrates play=off …

Drammeh and Zohi overturned Miguel Pereira’s opening goal to secure an important victory for the Torres Vedras team.

No one can take the play=off spot away from them, but Torreense will still try, in the last round of the II Liga , for direct promotion to the top tier of national football. And they will only do so because they achieved a remarkable comeback at Olival, the temporary home of Lusitânia de Lourosa, which they defeated 2-1 with two goals in the final quarter of an hour, in the 33rd round of the competition.

Lusitanists went into halftime with the lead, Miguel Pereira (37m) scored to punish a bad pass from Stopira in a dangerous area.

Torreense’s response came in the final stretch of the match, through Musa Drammeh (76m) and the recently introduced Kevin Zohi (86m), the latter on the rebound from a penalty taken by Javi Vásquez which Victor Hugo, the Lourosenses goalkeeper, saved.

After the final whistle, Torreense celebrated securing a play=off spot, although direct promotion is not entirely ruled out. To achieve this, they need to beat Vizela in the last round of the Second League and hope that Academico de Viseu, who won against Benfica B [2-0] this Saturday , lose to Sporting B, since the goal difference is very favorable to Viseu (+25 against +9, with both teams having the same head=to=head record).

Speaking of Vizela, they also won tonight, beating Uniao de Leiria (1-0) , with a goal from Yassin Fortuné, and moved into fourth place, two points ahead of Leiria.
