Rui Garrido Pereira, the club’s president, confirmed the Porto=based team’s position this Friday.

Boavista confirmed this Thursday that it has filed an urgent request to challenge the auction of properties, which includes the Estadio do Bessa. The Porto-based club, it should be noted, put the stadium up for auction .

This decision comes in the context of the club’s insolvency, stated the club ‘s president, Rui Garrido Pereira.

Boavista has requested urgent court intervention in a process involving the sale of assets, which includes the stadium. The club’s position is simple: the auction, as presented, does not fully reflect the reality associated with the assets, the club stressed in statements to the Lusa news agency.

In a process of this type, it is essential to guarantee transparency, equality among stakeholders, and trust in the procedure. Boavista is asking the court to suspend/annul the auction in its current form, he added.

The request was submitted to the Commercial Court of Vila Nova de Gaia. The Bessa Stadium = as well as the adjacent sports complex = will be auctioned off as a whole for a minimum value of 32.9 million euros between Monday and May 20th. The auction will be conducted through the Leilosoc agency.

This Friday, Joao Loureiro, former president of the Porto club , warned of real estate vultures” in the sale of the Bessa stadium. Earlier, the Panteras Negras supporters group tried to prevent the auction of the stadium.

Reopened in 2003 and unused since May 2025 due to restrictions imposed by the authorities, the Estadio do Bessa was one of the 10 venues used by Portugal in the organization of the 2004 European Championship.

Earlier this week, the United for Boavista movement submitted a request to the General Assembly Board (MAG), with 270 signatures, requesting an extraordinary General Assembly aimed at removing the current board and appointing an Administrative Committee to manage the club until new elections.

Rui Garrido Pereira confirmed receipt of the document, but noted that the General Assembly will need to evaluate and validate the signatures, in accordance with the club’s statutes, before scheduling the meeting.

Boavista, national champions in 2001, spent 11 consecutive seasons in the Liga. In 2024/25 they were relegated to the second division. The SAD (Sports Limited Company) failed to obtain the necessary licenses for professional and national competitions and was administratively relegated to the top tier of the Porto association. SAD is playing as the home team at the Ramalde Sports Park, more than two kilometers from the Bessa Stadium. They have already been relegated to the second district division and have seven players banned from being registered with FIFA.
