A draw at one ball keeps Gasperini’s team in sixth place, which allows them to qualify for the Conference League.

Roma drew 1-1 against Atalanta in a match counting towards the 33rd round of the Italian league and remain in the fight for access to European competitions.

After their victory against Pisa, the Giallorossi were looking to add two consecutive wins, however, the strong start from the visiting team put Gasperini’s side (who were reunited with the team he managed for nine seasons) on edge.

Krstovic, assisted by De Roon, opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a great shot from outside the area. The Montenegrin striker reached 12 goals this season in 45 games for Atalanta.

Roma’s response came just before halftime (45th minute). After a cross, Rensch headed the ball to Mario Hermoso, who was unmarked in the box, and the former Atletico Madrid centre=back scored a fantastic goal to restore parity to the scoreline.

Until the final whistle, the score remained unchanged and neither team was able to secure a victory.

With this result, Roma occupies sixth place with 58 points. Atalanta, in turn, is seventh, with 54 points.
