It looked like it was going to be an easy win, but Atalanta still had to hold on to their narrow lead for a couple of minutes to leave San Siro with a 3-2 victory against Milan, in the 36th and penultimate round of the Italian Serie A, on Sunday night.
In yet another unproductive night for Portuguese player Rafael Leao, who started the match, received a yellow card in the 34th minute and was substituted in the 58th minute amidst some dissatisfaction in the stands, Atalanta managed to build a 3-0 lead.
Ederson opened the scoring in the seventh minute of the game and, still in the first half, Zappacosta made it 2-0 for the Bergamo team in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Atalanta extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Raspadori, with Nkunku replacing Loftus-Cheek in the Milan team, before coach Massimiliano Allegri also substituted Leão, Santiago Giménez and Koni De Winter, bringing on Youssouf Fofana, Niclas Fullkrug and Zachary Athekame.
And when the night seemed destined for a heavy defeat for Milan, a goal by Strahinja Pavlovic in the 88th minute awakened the home team, who benefited from a penalty in stoppage time, with Nkunku reducing the score to 3-2 (90+4m). And the truth is that Milan still had two chances to equalize, but the team coached by Raffaele Palladino managed to secure the victory and reach 58 points, in seventh place. Milan is fourth, with 67 points, having been equaled by Roma, who earlier won 3-2 in Parma. In the other games of the day, Genoa, with Portuguese player Vitinha in the starting lineup, drew 0-0 away to Fiorentina. Como 1907 won 1-0 away to Hellas Verona, and Cremonese hosted and beat Pisa 3-0.
