Braga will now play every Thursday, thanks to FC Porto’s elimination.

UEFA has confirmed that Sporting Braga will host Freiburg on April 30th in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals. The match in Germany will be played a week later, on May 7th.

Both the game at the Braga Municipal Stadium and the match at Europa-Park are scheduled for 8:00 PM.

The date and time of the match at Pedreira were subject to change, because if FC Porto had eliminated Nottingham Forest, Sp. Braga would have had to play a day earlier, on April 29th, a Wednesday, at 5:45 PM.

Moreover, this was not an unprecedented scenario for Sporting Braga, who saw their home games against Ferencváros and Betis brought forward by one day, since UEFA regulations prevent two clubs from the same country located within a 50-kilometer radius of each other from playing on the same day. As FC Porto had a better league ranking than Sporting Braga, they had priority on the original match day whenever each team played at home.

It is worth remembering that the other Europa League semi-final will be an all-English match, between Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, also to be played on April 30th and May 7th.
