The forward says that Portugal has a team with very good players and that, therefore, it is legitimate to dream of the title.

Portuguese international Gonçalo Guedes, speaking to journalists in Cancún, Mexico, where the national team is preparing for their match against Mexico next Saturday, stated that the Real Sociedad forward believes their confidence in winning the World Cup is justified by the quality of the players.

Portugal is considered one of the favorites to win the World Cup. What’s your perspective on that?

I don’t think we’re the big favorites, but we know that with the quality and the players we have, we can win. We know we’re very good and we want to be at a high level to be able to win the World Cup. It’s a very difficult competition, perhaps the most difficult, so we know it won’t be easy at all.

Ambition declared and embraced without problems, unlike what happened in the past.

I think all the teams that participate in the World Cup want to win. We are no different, but we know that we have a team with great quality, with players who are in big clubs and who are in great form.

When you have a team with big names, it’s always normal that people talk more about us. But we have to stay calm. We know our potential.”

Mexican fans really wanted to see Cristiano Ronaldo. They won’t see him, but there will still be many other great players on the field…

“We came here to win and to get the best possible result. We want to be in good shape. We have a very good team, with very good players who are at big clubs.
