The Portuguese player has been nominated for the third time in his career.

Paulo Fonseca has once again been nominated for best coach in the French League. The Portuguese manager, who coaches Lyon, is one of five nominees.

This award is given by the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP), and is decided by votes from players in the French League. Fonseca has been nominated for this award for the third time = he had already been nominated twice while playing for Lille.

The remaining nominees are Luis Enrique (PSG), Bruno Genesio (Lille), Olivier Pantaloni (Lorient) and Pierre Sage (Lens).

Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon are currently in fourth place , a Champions League spot, with 57 points = 12 behind leaders PSG.

Portuguese midfielder João Neves, from Paris Saint=Germain, is competing for the award for best talent of the season, against teammates Desire Doue and Zaire=Emery, as well as Valentin Barco, from Strasbourg, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, from Lille.

Fellow countrymen Vitinha and Nuno Mendes, also from the Parisian club, are vying for the title of best player of the season, along with Ousmane Dembele, another PSG player and Ballon d’Or winner in 2025, Florian Thauvin (Lens) and Mason Greenwood (Marseille). The winners will be announced at the UNFP Trophies ceremony on May 11th.
