João Carvalho, in a flash interview with BTV, after the 3-1 defeat against Benfica in the 17th round of the League:
“It was a close game. We could have scored the first goal before them, in the first 10 or 15 minutes. If we had, it would have been totally different. Benfica dominated and made it difficult for us to get out of our own half. It was harder, and we had to sit back more. Through collective play, we managed to go into halftime with a one-goal lead. We lacked clarity in the final pass and receptions; we lost possession too often, and that made the difference today.
It’s always a pleasure, Benfica made me a man and a professional player, I really wanted to win and I tried to help the team. Congratulations to Benfica, but we are disappointed with the result. We thank the fans for their support, they have been tireless until now. We have to lift our heads and move on.
