France: Paris municipal police do not authorize PSG celebration ….

The likely French champions wanted to celebrate at the Parc des Princes after the derby against Paris FC.

Paris municipal authorities prevented PSG from holding a celebration at their stadium on Sunday night to mark their fifth consecutive French championship, the 14th in their history, which they are very close to securing.

The team featuring Portuguese players Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Goncalo Ramos could be crowned champions as early as Wednesday ( if they simply don’t lose against Lens ), but they intended to organize a celebration at the Parc des Princes after their final league game, which they will play away against their neighbor Paris FC on Sunday.

In this case, neighbor is indeed the correct term to use here. The stadiums of the two teams are separated by only one street, which, according to PSG officials, would facilitate the logistics of the festivities.

However, since the derby is scheduled to end around 11:00 PM local time, the Parisian municipal police rejected PSG’s request, according to the newspaper L’Équipe.

With two games in hand, PSG has a six=point lead and a 15-goal difference over second=placed Lens, so only a catastrophe would prevent them from winning the championship this season.
