Oscar Cardozo announced this Thursday that he has hung up his boots at the age of 42. The Paraguayan striker thus brings to an end a long career that marked several clubs, including, and perhaps most importantly, Benfica.
The Paraguayan spent seven seasons at Benfica and will naturally be greatly missed, for the goals he scored and the history he wrote at the club.
Even today, Cardozo remains a memory that brings a smile to the face of many fans. After all, he scored 172 goals for Benfica, becoming the club’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer.
