Benfica’s central defender, Gonçalo Oliveira, ended up in the hospital this Friday undergoing tests, after being injured around the hour mark of the match between the B teams, against FC Porto, in Olival.
Gonçalo Oliveira, 19, injured himself and was badly hurt, requiring a substitution. He also received attention from FC Porto staff and, after being treated on the substitutes’ bench, where he was still showing noticeable signs of discomfort, was carried off the pitch on a stretcher. He ended up going to the hospital for evaluation and did not return to Lisbon with the team.
After the game, in the flash interview , coach Nélson Verissimo shared his first impressions of the young center=back.
Goncalo has significant swelling in his ankle, he will be evaluated, I hope it’s nothing too serious. But his ankle is swollen, we hope it’s something that can be resolved quickly, said Verissimo, in statements to Porto Canal.
FC Porto B defeated Benfica B 2-0 in matchday 34, the final matchday of the Second League.
