The Portuguese coach admits, however, that Roberto Martinez needs peace and quiet.
Upon arriving in Portugal, following the end of the season at Al Nassr, Jorge Jesus was questioned by journalists about several current sporting issues. Besides Benfica , the coach was asked about the possibility of coaching the national team and responded humorously.
Who says no to the national team? It’s one of the best in the world. I can’t say no to the other (laughs). The World Cup is coming up, the coach needs peace and quiet, I don’t want to get involved in that mess, said Jesus, smiling.
In the past, the coach admitted to having previously turned down the possibility of coaching the Brazilian national team, a decision he later regretted. He also spoke about the possibility of coaching Cristiano Ronaldo in the national team.
The World Cup is his last year with the national team. He’s a super=gifted athlete. He’s a great player technically. He’s 41 years old and he plays at the level he plays. Not because he’s in Saudi Arabia, but because the league has great players, he stated.
Jesus is now a coach without a club after winning the Saudi championship with Al Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix. He said that returning to Benfica was out of the question due to salary concerns and hinted that he might continue his career at Fenerbahce.
