UEFA announced on Tuesday the ban of Czech coach Petr Vlachovsky, accused of secretly filming several female players in locker rooms and showers over four years.
UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has ruled that the former 1. FC Slovacko coach violated regulations relating to insulting or indecent behavior, and has banned him from European football.
In the Czech Republic, Vlachovsky had already been tried and sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, in addition to a five-year ban from coaching in the country. UEFA also asked FIFA to extend the sanction internationally and requested that the Czech federation revoke his coaching license.
According to Czech authorities, the coach, who had previously managed the Czech Republic’s under-19 women’s national team, was arrested in 2023 after online recordings involving more than a dozen female players were found.
In a statement, FIFPRO said the decision sends a strong and necessary message that abusive and inappropriate behavior has no place in football.
