The full=back, who came through Chelsea’s youth system, only participated in two Serie A matches.
Fiorentina announced on Tuesday an agreement with English full-back Tariq Lamptey to terminate his contract. Signed last summer from Brighton for €6 million, the defender, who came through Chelsea’s youth system, had a season marked by physical problems and leaves Florence having played only two games in Serie A.
Of Ghanaian origin but born in London, Lamptey was once considered a very promising player, but the truth is that, since turning senior, he has struggled to establish himself due to the many physical problems that have plagued him, as happened now in Italy. The 24-year-old full-back still managed 25 minutes in September, spread across two games, before suffering a serious knee injury that ultimately compromised the rest of the season. He is now free to sign for a new club.
