New contract extends until 2031

FC Porto announced the contract renewal of Bernardo Lima, an 18-year-old midfielder who was a European and world champion at the under-17 level with the Portuguese national team, and is the captain of the under-19 team.

Having been with the club since he was eight years old, the midfielder, originally from São Joao da Madeira, has now extended his contract for another five seasons, until June 2031.

Standing at 1.82 meters tall, Bernardo Lima skipped stages in his development and, while still a youth player, signed his first professional contract in 2024/25. He also played for the under-17 national team, providing two assists in the European Championship final, before participating in all matches that led to the team’s first=ever World Cup victory.

His good performances in the under-19s and B team earned him a place in the training camp that the main team held at the beginning of the year in the Algarve, and praise from Francesco Farioli. Opportunities will come very soon, highlighted the Italian coach who has just celebrated winning the championship.
