Sporting are interested in Issa Doumbia , but the Venezia coach has already warned that the young Italian midfielder will not leave for a bargain price.
The 22-year-old scored the second goal for the team that leads the Italian Serie B, on Saturday, in the victory over Empoli (2-0). After the game, Giovanni Stroppa confessed that the 15 million euros at which a possible deal is valued is insufficient to secure Doumbia’s services.
“This morning I spoke to him in front of the team and told him that 15 million euros from Sporting for him is too little. He needs to increase his value and try to score some goals. In a way, I was also a good motivator (laughs). Jokes aside, I think he has that finishing ability. And I can say the same about Kike Pérez, because I’m not saying they can be better, but that they should focus more on efficiency and not just the beauty of the game. When they have chances, they need to score, also working as forwards, because the coach allows that, said the Venezia coach in a press conference.
Seen by Sporting Lisbon’s management as a potential replacement for Hidemasa Morita, Doumbia has eight goals and four assists in 35 games this season.
