AVS coach doesn’t throw in the towel.
Joao Henriques, in the press room, said that the team deserved more than a draw in this match. The AVS coach stated that regardless of the outcome of the matchday, the team still wants to win to surpass 15 points and avoid having their worst ever record in the League.
Game analysis
After being up 2-1 we could have made it 3-1, after being 2-2 we could have scored, and for us, a draw feels like a disappointment. It was a good game, with two good teams, and we knew how to take advantage of the spaces. We were unlucky again. We want to go all the way to the end of the League doing justice to the championship, to Aves, and we were a team that tried until the end. Today we were a team and that was demonstrated on the field. If the season started now, I’m sure we would be a surprise because the team is competitive and, as we performed today, it was a very well=played game. We were dignified and serious, but this game is over and we’re already thinking about the next match.
Does today’s performance demonstrate that you want to value the players regardless of the result?
Today it was demonstrated that the table is misleading because a team with only 13 points, performing like this, deserved much more. I can only speak from my experience at the club, and the team has been very competitive, and we are increasing the value of the club’s assets. We want to develop players, and today we showed that we have quality in the squad.
If we lower our voices to the players, will things change?
Since I arrived, we’ve never looked at the table because that adds enormous weight. We’ve looked at each game individually, and we want to surpass 15 points because that’s our worst record in the Primeira Liga, and we don’t want to be stuck with that. It no longer depends on us, but we still have many things to achieve. We will continue to be competitive; we are already relaunching our plans for next season, and that’s what we value.
