Estoril’s coach analyzes the thrashing against Alverca and comments on Lacximicant’s injury that will keep him off the field for some time.
Ian Cathro, Estoril’s coach, analyzes the 4-1 victory against Alverca in the 16th round of the Liga:
Analysis of the victory over Alverca
“We can’t forget that we played against a good team, very solid and with a very dynamic attacking game. We managed to grow during the first few minutes and understand the attitude we needed for the game. After some time, the team realized that more acceleration moments were needed and we finished our actions. If I have to highlight something, it’s the ability to manage, to win, and to be comfortable with a positive result. Maintaining intensity and aggression against the ball at crucial moments to maintain as much control of the game as possible. I think that’s a very important step in our growth. The ability this group of players has to overcome various moments of frustration and difficulty is a great success for the group. I will never forget that we were playing on a field that wasn’t even fit for cows and we had a game on a FIFA date. We managed it and it’s over, we are now together improving, producing a very competent game and working well.
Lacximicant lesion
Yes, André suffered a muscle injury in the last game and will be out for some time. We still need to understand the extent of the problem, but he is injured.”
Estoril’s last game in 2025 and a look to the future.
“In the last two games, the team showed high concentration and great commitment, with greater defensive solidity. We want to improve in everything; what we don’t want is to start conceding fewer goals and forget that we also have to score. I feel that the last two games show that we are not perfect, but the way the group is working gives us reason to believe that perhaps we can grow and improve a little faster.
