Five unanswered goals in the final match of the pre-season training camp.
Morocco hosted and thrashed Burundi 5-0 on Tuesday in a preparation match for the 2026 World Cup finals, with a brace from El Kaabi and a hat=trick from Tawfik Bentayeb.
At the Mohammed VI Football Academy Stadium in Salé, the score remained 0-0 for the first 45 minutes, but Olympiakos forward Ayoub El Kaabi broke the deadlock in the second half with two quick goals in the 59th and 63rd minutes.
Then, Tawfik Bentayeb, from the French team Troyes, appeared and scored a hat-trick, increasing the Atlas Lions’ lead with goals in the 71st, 80th and 90th minutes.
Forward Yanis Begraoui, from Estoril, was part of the Moroccan preliminary squad for this training camp, but was left out of the final list for the World Cup .
We remind you that Morocco is in Group C, along with Brazil, Scotland and Haiti.
In the last World Cup, held in Qatar in 2022, the African team finished in fourth place, after eliminating Portugal in the quarter=finals.
