The duel between Portuguese coaches Abel and Artur Jorge ended in a close contest.

Palmeiras, coached by Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira, drew 1-1 at home against Cruzeiro, coached by Artur Jorge, in a match of the 16th round of the Brasileirão, on Saturday night.

Keny Arroyo, with a well-placed left-footed shot from outside the box, gave Cruzeiro the lead in the 11th minute. However, Palmeiras managed to equalize with a fantastic goal from Felipe Anderson, formerly of FC Porto, in the 20th minute of the game.

The result remained unchanged, and Palmeiras recorded their third consecutive draw in the Brasileirão. They remain leaders, now with 35 points, but at the mercy of Flamengo, coached by Leonardo Jardim, who are second with 30 points but have two games in hand. The next round, the penultimate before the nearly two-month break for the 2026 World Cup, features a Flamengo-Palmeiras match. Cruzeiro is 12th in the standings with 20 points, the same as 10th (Coritiba) and 11th (Bragantino).

Vasco, with Portuguese player Nuno Moreira in the starting lineup (he played 63 minutes), lost 4-1 away to Internacional. Sao Paulo, with Cedric Soares coming on in stoppage time, lost 2-1 away to Fluminense. Atletico Mineiro hosted and beat Mirassol 3-1.
