Andre-Pierre Gignac received a heartfelt tribute from the stands during Tigres’ home game against Mazatlan, which ended in a 5-1 victory, in what may have been the Frenchman’s last match for the Mexican club.
At the 10th minute, Gignac’s jersey number, the stands at the Stadio Universitario changed from their usual shades of yellow to the colors of the French flag, also revealing a tifo with the image of the 40-year-old striker.
Gignac has already announced that he will not renew his contract with Tigres, and the fans took advantage of the last game of the Clausura phase to pay tribute to the French striker, who played for the Mexican club for ten seasons.
Andre Pierre Gignac is a French international and, at 40 years old, has played for Marseille and Toulouse. The experienced striker will now have offers to remain in the Mexican league, move to MLS, or even return to the French league.
