A candidate for the presidency of the Spanish club leaves yet another clue. If I become president, there will be a Spanish player at the World Cup who will be from Real Madrid, he said.
Enrique Riquelme, the candidate running against Florentino Perez for the presidency of Real Madrid in the elections scheduled for June 7th , confirmed, without naming names, that Jurgen Klopp is not his preferred coach for the Spanish team. He did so by saying that his preferred coach is someone… who currently has a club.
We secured the coach before announcing the candidacy. He already has a club, Riquelme stated on the COPE program El Partidazo this Tuesday, after the German had been linked to the candidate’s project for Real Madrid in recent days.
Riquelme had already said this week, in an interview with the newspaper ABC, that he admired Klopp , but that his admiration wasn’t limited to the German coach. I love Klopp. I already said that in 2021. He’s a good manager and a good coach, but there are other coaches besides Klopp that I like, he stated.
Without revealing the names for his project, Riquelme also gave a significant clue as to the athletes who make up the squad.
“Real Madrid doesn’t have a single player in the Spanish national team. In the 16 World Cups already held, there have always been Real Madrid players. And I, as a Real Madrid fan, am annoyed, but there is a solution. If I become president of Real Madrid, there will be a Spanish player in the World Cup who will be from Real Madrid,” he guaranteed.
Riquelme and Florentino will publicly present their plans for the Real Madrid presidency on Wednesday.
It is worth remembering that Jose Mourinho, a target for Real Madrid under Florentino Perez’s presidency for the 2026/27 season, has an ethics clause in effect until next Friday, agreed upon until ten (working) days after the last official match of the 2025/26 sporting season.
