Neymar, however, took to social media to defend himself against the criticism, stating that he was only scratching his ears and had nothing to do with the boos from Santos fans. The Brazilian international also admitted to being tired of the constant criticism from the fans. The day has come when I have to explain scratching my ear! Honestly, they’re going way too far and crossing the line… it’s too sad to have to live with this! No human being can take it anymore, wrote the Brazilian player.
This event comes in the wake of turbulent times between Santos’ number 10 and the fans. Neymar has been criticized for the team’s performances and poor results, even getting into arguments with a fan in Santos’ previous match, a defeat against Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana.
Santos suffered their fifth defeat of the season in the Brazilian championship, this time by a score of 3-2, at home against Fluminense. Gabigol and Barreal scored for the home team, while Savarino, Castillo, and John Kennedy secured the victory for Fluminense.
