Bologna, with Portuguese player João Mário, was defeated at home by Roma ( 2-0 ) in the 34th round of the Italian League. The former FC Porto player started for the home team. For Roma, former Benfica player Svilar started.
The team from the capital took to the field after having dismissed Claudio Ranieri from his position as advisor earlier this week.
Early in the match, Donyell Malen continued his excellent form in Giallorossi colors . The Dutchman opened the scoring in the seventh minute, making it his 12th goal in 16 games.
Before halftime, Malen provided the assist for the Moroccan Neil El Aynaoui’s goal (45+1m).
Also noteworthy is Paulo Dybala, who came onto the field in the 77th minute. The Argentinian hadn’t played for exactly three months = the last time was on January 25th, in the draw against Milan.
With this victory (2-0), Roma provisionally climbs to fifth place, which grants access to the Europa League, now with 61 points. Bologna, in turn, loses its second consecutive game and remains in eighth position for now with 48 points.
In another game featuring Portuguese players, Danilo Veiga, formerly of Estrela da Amadora, started in Lecce’s draw with Hellas Verona ( 0-0 ).
With this goalless draw, Lecce moves up to the position immediately above the relegation zone = 17th with 29 points. Hellas Verona remains in the relegation zone – 19th with 19 points.
Parma beat Pisa ( 1-0 ) with a goal from Frenchman Nesta Elphege (82m), who came off the bench to become the hero.
Parma thus moves up to 12th place with 42 points. Pisa, meanwhile, remains in 20th and last place with 18 points.
