We focused on the game and not on Sporting’s past. We knew they were a great team, with individual talent, and we came to compete. After the goal, we lacked a lot of personality and failed to execute what we had trained. In the two scoring opportunities they had, they scored, and then the team lacked personality; we never recovered.

Is V. Guimaraes in the pre=season phase?
Pre-season is in line with what we’re doing in the first team. There’s a lot that needs to change so that the club’s demands are as high as possible. Today we weren’t competent. It’s a bit relative, I don’t know if I’ll be here next year, the players don’t either, but if we continue, there are things that definitely need to be changed.
Team difficulties during the game
We lacked pressure on the front line, and the players who were providing cover needed more pressure. We were too drawn to the man, we didn’t close the spaces inside. Everything we’ve been working on so far, we didn’t have, and Sporting created many difficulties for us whenever they stretched the game. We lacked that dual role from the guys up front. We weren’t good at all today.
