The Spanish company Sacyr is the main creditor in the club’s insolvency proceedings.
Boavista’s management has reached an agreement with the Spanish company Sacyr, the main creditor in the club’s insolvency proceedings, for the acquisition of the respective debt.
In a statement, Boavista’s management states that the agreement, reached within the scope of the club’s recovery process, foresees the acquisition of the credit held by the Spanish company Sacyr, the main creditor in the insolvency proceedings, in a transaction carried out in close collaboration with strategic partners committed to the viability and recovery of Boavista.
Following this understanding, the club formally informed the competent court and requested the annulment of the auction of its assets, as well as the convening of a creditors’ meeting to assess and vote on the possibility of presenting a recovery plan.
This understanding comes three days after the Vila Nova de Gaia Commercial Court rejected the request to challenge the sale of the club’s real estate assets, submitted by Boavista’s management. Although that court decided to maintain the auction, club sources confirmed to Lusa on Wednesday that the decision required changes to the course of the auction, which runs until Wednesday under the intermediation of Leilosoc.
The sale of the Estadio do Bessa, in Porto, and its sports complex = for a total base value of €37.9 million = is part of the club’s insolvency proceedings, whose liquidation was approved in September 2025, after accumulating debts exceeding €150 million. In parallel, the same court this week decreed the liquidation of the SAD (Sporting Limited Company), effective from May 31st, following the withdrawal of the recovery plan from voting by the insolvency administrator, a decision that could still be reversed if new investors emerge before that date.
