However, in the 31st minute, a handball by Ramon allowed Kaio Jorge to unlock the scoring from the penalty spot. Goias threatened to equalize in the second half, notably with a chance for Esmeraldino, but Cruzeiro also had several opportunities to double their narrow lead, which ultimately proved sufficient for the Foxes to advance to the round of 16.
