FC Porto’s coach discusses winning the league title and the importance of Jorge Costa to the team’s overall performance this season.

I’m still processing what happened, I was very focused on the game until the last minute. Jorge (Costa) helped us with some saves. I’m very happy for everyone. For the president, for this group, for Jorge (Costa) and for all the fans, who are celebrating again after so many years without winning the League.
The decision to come to FC Porto was the right one…
My goal was to bring the right energy to the team and we managed to win. We had different moments throughout the season, but today was truly the finish line. I’m happy to celebrate with the fans and it couldn’t be better. I accepted the president’s offer at the beginning of the season, and that’s what I did right. Nothing has changed, I’m the same person. This is football and now it’s a night of celebration.
How important was Jorge Costa during FC Porto’s time at the club?
Our strength throughout the season was Jorge. One of the things he said at the beginning of the season was that we had a team again. We gave everything we had to win, and his presence was evident in small things. Those two clearances off the line are Jorge Costa’s DNA. He’s not physically with us, but he’s with us in spirit.
