Pisa’s relegation from Italian football has been confirmed after another defeat in the competition, this time at home against Lecce (2-1).
The bottom=placed team in the Italian League struggled to create dangerous situations in the first half and saw their opponent take the lead in the opening minutes of the second half. Lameck Banda scored to make it 1-0, but Pisa responded immediately with a precise shot from Mehdi Leris (56 minutes).
Nevertheless, the decisive moment for the outcome of the game came in the 65th minute, with Cheddira’s goal. In a desperate attempt to avoid a sixth consecutive defeat, the Pisa coach made four substitutions, but to no avail.
This means that Pisa maintains the 18 points with which it entered the 35th round and mathematically can no longer leave the relegation zone. In contrast, Lecce now has four more points than Cremonese, although their opponent, the first of three clubs in danger of relegation, still has to play.
