Goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes and midfielder Fábio Vieira were starters and played the full 90 minutes in Hamburg’s 2-1 defeat at home to Hoffenheim, in a match counting towards the 31st round of the German League .
In a game decided in the first 45 minutes, Hoffenheim opened the scoring with a goal from Fisnik Asllani in the 18th minute.
The home team reacted to the goal conceded and, in the 32nd minute, Robert Glatzel equalized from the penalty spot, after a penalty committed by Oliver Baumann, Hoffenheim’s goalkeeper.
The visitors went in search of a comeback and scored in the 45th minute through Tim Lemperle, a 24-year-old German forward.
In the second half, the score remained the same, and Hamburg thus extended their winless streak to five games in the German league. Fabio Vieira’s team is in 14th place and has not yet secured its place in the top flight.
Hoffenheim won and provisionally moved up to fourth place in the standings, and now awaits the result of Sunday’s game between Stuttgart and Werder Bremen to determine their official position in the table.
