Francisco Silva, an 18-year-old forward who plays for the B team, extends his contract with Benfica.

Benfica has officially announced the contract renewal of Francisco Silva, an 18-year-old forward who plays for the B team and is one of the key players for the Eagles in the UEFA Youth League, a competition in which he has scored four goals in five games this season. The renewal was not specified for the number of seasons.

“The renewal signifies a feeling of pride and confidence from the club. Now it’s about working harder, with more responsibility, and achieving higher goals. For the future, I hope to make my debut [in the first team] and then earn my place. I have to continue working, scoring goals, and giving everything on the field,” the player told BTV.

Discovered by Benfica at Gafanha, a club in the Aveiro district, Francisco Silva, son of former Beira-Mar striker Cílio Souza , has been at Seixal for eight seasons, where he won the national under-17 and under-19 championships. Last season, he helped Benfica win the Revelation Cup in the under-23 category.

The forward is also a youth international for Portugal, having represented the national team at the under-15, under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels. In 14 international appearances, he scored five goals.
