About two hours before the start of the Mexico-Portugal match, in the early hours of Sunday morning, a fan was reported dead at the new Azteca stadium, where the game will take place.

According to an official statement from the Mexico City Security Secretariat, a fan fell from the VIP box area of ​​the Ciudad de México stadium. He was in a state of intoxication and attempted to jump from the second floor to the first.

He ended up falling to the ground floor, where he was attended to by medical personnel, but he died. According to local press, the fan was 27 years old.
