Pavel Sulc and Abner Vinicius score goals for Lyon in their home game against Brest (2-1).

Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon secured their third consecutive victory in the French League, beating Brest 2-1 in a match marked by an early sending-off.

Afonso Moreira started for the home team, who gained a numerical advantage in the 19th minute after Romain del Castillo was shown a straight red card. This moment propelled Lyon to a comfortable lead, secured before halftime. In the 41st minute, Pavel Sulc scored the first goal from a virtually impossible angle, sending the thousands of fans at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais into a frenzy. Shortly after, Abner Vinicius put the ball in the back of the net with a shot from just outside the area, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

In the second half, Lyon had a goal disallowed for offside by Sulc, while Brest managed to pull one back in stoppage time with a goal from Eric Dina (87th minute).

The victory leaves Lyon in fourth place in the French League, securing a play-off spot for next season’s Champions League, with 33 points, just two behind Marseille.
