André Vakulyuk, a Ukrainian youth international, was the main new face in the session led by José Mourinho.

André Vakulyuk was the standout name in Benfica’s training session ahead of their trip to the Algarve , where they will face Farense in the Round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup.

The midfielder, just 18 years old, joined the first team’s training sessions under José Mourinho, in a session that also included Daniel Banjaqui.

Born in Torres Novas and holding dual nationality, the left-footed midfielder represented Ukraine at the under=17 level in the European Championship for that age group, which Portugal won.

Vakulyuk has been linked to Benfica since he was 11 years old and this season he has played 13 games and scored two goals for the youth team, in addition to one appearance in the Liga Revelação (Revelation League).

A standout player in the youth ranks for his passing ability and powerful shot, Vakulyuk was nevertheless left out of the squad for the trip to Faro.

Conversely, Daniel Banjaqui remained with the first team . The right=back, who has already played five games for Benfica B in the Second League, appears as the only possible new addition to the squad for the match against the Algarve team.
