Vanat decides the Catalan derby and Girona sets its sights on euro

Ukrainian striker sharpens Espanyol’s momentum and Girona continues to climb the league standings.

Girona’s third consecutive league victory came in Catalonia, with a visit to their “neighbor” Espanyol (2-0). On Friday night, in a match of the 20th round of the championship, the visitors benefited from a penalty in the 45+3 minute, an opportunity capitalized on by forward Vanat. The Ukrainian striker scored his second goal in the 90+3 minute, taking advantage of another penalty.

Thus, Girona continues to climb the table and remains in 9th place with 24 points , five points away from the European spots. Meanwhile, Espanyol has not won in three matches and remains in fifth place with 34 points.
