Toluca travelled to Juárez’s home ground and won 2-1, in a game where Paulinho was once again decisive for the Mexican team.
In the first leg of the League quarter-finals, the Portuguese forward started and saw the opponent take the lead after just three minutes through Murillo. This slim advantage held until half-time, and Toluca’s response only came in the second half.
Briseno first restored parity to the score (56 minutes) and Paulinho confirmed the turnaround for the visitors shortly afterwards, following a low cross from Diego Barbosa. In the heart of the area, the former Sporting player only had to deflect the ball beyond the goalkeeper’s reach, in a typical striker’s execution.
This victory puts Toluca in a good position to advance in the competition and try to retain the title won last season.
