Sotiris Sylaidopoulos, Rio Ave’s coach, in a flash interview with SportTV, after the 2-0 defeat against Benfica in the 18th round of the League:
It’s a fair result, we played against a stronger team than ours. We were late to the ball and lost many duels. In the second half we approached the game in a more successful way, but the result is fair and congratulations to Benfica.
“I would have liked to have had a time-out in the first half, but in football that doesn’t exist. The effort was there, it wasn’t so much about that, it was more about some mistakes and a lack of coordination between the lines. We work a lot on set pieces, but it’s not always about organization, it’s also about the individual quality of each player. We made a mistake and we have to work on it. We want to be prepared for the next two games, against Nacional and Arouca, which are important for us
“We need to maintain the positive things we did in the second half, the confidence with the ball and our style of play. We need to be braver in the final third and circulate the ball from one side to the other. We need to stabilize certain things and be more involved in the game
