Sporting defeats Madalena and reaches the Cup quarterfinals.

Sporting visited Vila Nova de Gaia to eliminate Madalena in the Round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. On Friday night, the Lions won 3-0 (25=23, 25=14 and 25=12). Thus, Sporting joined Benfica, Ac. Sao Mamede, Sp. Espinho and Leixoes in the quarterfinals.

The Round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup will take place until January 27th. Returning to the championship, the national champions and sole leaders visit Santo Tirso (12th and last) this Saturday = January 17th = at 4 pm.
