The 41-year-old Brazilian defender has terminated his contract with the Rio de Janeiro club.

Thiago Silva is no longer a Fluminense player. The Rio de Janeiro club confirmed that the 41-year-old center-back submitted his contract termination on Wednesday.

The experienced defender returned to Fluminense in 2024, after having been developed at the club. In Europe, he played for clubs such as Milan, PSG, and Chelsea, his last experience on European soil.

In his second spell at Fluminense, the Brazilian was an option in 46 matches, scoring five goals. In total, Thiago has played 212 games and scored 19 goals for the Rio de Janeiro team. The player’s future remains uncertain, so retirement does not seem to be on the table for now.

“Thiago Silva, who returned to the club last year as a legend of world football, leaves a legacy of dedication and love for Fluminense. The club thanks the athlete for all his dedication and professionalism throughout his time here and wishes him much success in his new journey,” Fluminense wrote in a statement.
