OFFICIAL: Rui Jorge is the new under-20 coach for Azerbaijan.

After Fernando Santos, the Azerbaijan Football Federation (AFFA) has once again hired a Portuguese national team coach – this time for the under-20 team. It is Rui Jorge, who was announced via the federation’s official account.

“The Portuguese coach will lead our team in the Under-20 World Cup to be held in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027. The press conference will be organized in the coming days with the participation of the AFFA management,” the statement reads.

Jorge was the coach of Portugal’s under-21 national team for 15 years. Before that, he had worked in youth development at Belenenses and played for teams such as Sporting and FC Porto.
