Former FC Porto midfielder surprises Brazilian journalist by expressing himself in Portuguese.
In fluent Portuguese, former FC Porto midfielder Nico González praised Manchester City’s important victory away to Real Madrid (2-1) in the Champions League. “It’s something few teams manage to do,” he noted.
In conversation with a Brazilian journalist from TNT Sports, who was surprised by the Spanish international’s fluency in speaking Portuguese – “I played for FC Porto,” as the player explained – Nico appeared “very happy and tired” after a “very important game” for City.
“We had lost our last Champions League game and it was important (to win in Madrid) to stay in the top eight (of the regular season). Last season, we saw that this is very important. That’s why we’re very happy,” said the 23-year-old midfielder.
Manchester City came from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabéu and now sit fourth in the Champions League regular season standings , level on 13 points with PSG and Atalanta. Real Madrid remain in seventh place with 12 points.
