Lukebakio’s stunning goal in Belgium’s draw with Mexico

Benfica winger prevented Belgian defeat in Chicago.

Early Wednesday morning, Belgium and Mexico drew 1-1 in Chicago, in the last match for both countries during this international break. 

The Mexicans took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from full-back Jorge Sánchez.The Belgians equalized just as the second half began (after 45 seconds of play), thanks to an inspired move by Dodi Lukebakio, Benfica’s winger, who made it 1-1. The 28-year-old Belgian thus scored his third goal in two games for Belgium.

During the match, there was also time for Zeno Debast, a defender for Sporting, to come on in the 72nd minute, replacing De Winter, a player for Milan.

Belgians and Mexicans thus concluded their final stage before the World Cup. Belgium’s debut is scheduled for June 15th against Egypt in the first round of Group G, which also includes Iran and New Zealand.

On the other side, Mexico plays its first match against South Africa on June 11th (the opening game at the Azteca Stadium) in Group A, which also includes South Korea and the Czech Republic.
