Portuguese judoka Patrícia Sampaio won the silver medal at the Tokyo Grand Slam on Saturday, after losing the final in the -78 kg category to Japan’s Kurena Ikeda. The Portuguese athlete even held an advantage in the fight, but was eventually immobilized by her opponent.

During the tournament, the judoka defeated Japanese judoka Reina Tanaka, Hsu Hang from Taipei, and Japanese judoka Mao Izumi along the way, before reaching the final.
