Sao Paulo wins in Uruguay and Vasco da Gama draws in Argentina.

In a largely empty Centenary match, São Paulo, with Portuguese player Cédric Soares in the starting lineup, kicked off their Copa Sudamericana campaign with a victory in Uruguay against Boston Rivers (1-0). Meanwhile, Vasco da Gama, managed by Nuno Moreira, could only manage a goalless draw in Buenos Aires against Barracas Central.

In Montevideo, little contributed to a good spectacle. Away from their stadium, due to CONMEBOL regulations, and in the midst of a storm, Boston Rivers put up a good fight against the favored São Paulo, who secured the victory there with a goal from Damián Bobadilla in the 61st minute.

Vasco da Gama couldn’t achieve the same result in Argentina, where they drew 0-0 against Barracas Central. Portuguese player Nuno Moreira started the match, but was substituted by Zucarello near the 90th minute.

Also noteworthy are the victories of Racing Club (3-1 against Independiente Petrolero) and O’Higgins (2-0 against Millonarios), and the draw between Alianza Atlético and Tigre (1-1).
