Slavia Prague, with whom Benfica shared the record, suffered their first defeat in the Czech League after 29 rounds.

Benfica became the only European team still undefeated in the league this Sunday.

Jos Mourinho’s team shared this record with the Czechs of Slavia Prague, who were defeated this Sunday for the first time after 29 rounds of the Czech League.

Now, excluding championships that are still in their early stages (Norway, for example), Benfica becomes the only undefeated club in a national championship, now with 30 games unbeaten after the derby against Sporting in Alvalade.

It is worth remembering that the Eagles have been unbeaten in the League since the end of January 2025, when they lost in Rio Maior against Casa Pia. Since then, they have gone 45 games (almost a season and a half) without experiencing defeat.

An impressive record, but one that hasn’t translated into national titles: last season, under Bruno Lage, Benfica finished two points behind champions Sporting, and this season they are seven points behind leaders FC Porto and need Sporting to slip up to reach second place.
