Benfica debuts in the Women’s Champions League with a defeat.

Benfica made their debut in Group B of the Women’s Volleyball Champions League with a heavy defeat in Turkey against Fenerbahçe (3-0).

The Eagles fell in Istanbul with scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19, against a team that reached the quarterfinals of the competition last season and became European champions in 2012.

In the next round, Benfica will host Polish side Budowlani Łódź on December 3rd (7:00 PM). In between, the Eagles will face Leixões in the national championship on Sunday (4:00 PM).

Benfica, it should be remembered, went through two qualifying rounds before reaching the Champions League group stage for the first time .
